Thank you, We Heart It for making me a 2015 heartist.
Yep, that's right I somehow managed to become a 2015 heartist on we heart it ... don't worry I was just as shocked as you... if not more.
It's one of those things that you see other people get (and you are genuinely happy for them) but you just sit at your computer screen and think "Yeah but it will never happen to you" this was one of those things, the same as Twitter/YouTube/Facebook verification.
"You could have 15 kabillion followers on any social platform Sacha, but you will never be verified."
I know the heartist icon isn't a verification of a celebrity or public figure but it is an icon of the We Heart It top users plus it's the first badge I've had on a social media platform, I'm really proud of it and I want to thank the We Heart It team for recognising me.
What is a Heartist 2015?
A Heartist is someone who is a top user on We Heart It, they create collections, re-heart, add their own images and have a positive, inspiring effect on the overall we heart it community. I used to think that getting icons on profiles was all about the number of followers or the number of page views but the heartist badge is much fairer as all as you need to be is a very active user and spread positivity to get one. It is called a '2015 heartist' icon so I'm not sure if you get to keep this icon forever (the 2015 just indicating what year you earned the badge) or when it reaches 2017 it will fade away and you have to earn the badge again and become a 2016 heartist. We will have to wait and see.
How can I become a 2015 heartist?
To become a heartist you first need a We Heart It account (obviously) once you have this create your collections. These are things you are interested in as an individual, add images to these collections to build a good enough profile for people to see what your interests are.
Great, now you've got your profile and your collections sorted you can work on becoming a heartist. Three main steps are needed to be taken to become one and it won't happen overnight, it takes time and effort. The first step is to be engaging. You need to heart every day, add things to your collections and add images to the community for other people to heart.
The second step is to be creative. This can be in two areas first, be creative with your images. You can reheart things from other users but it is much better if you add your own images as well. You can put as much creativity as you want into your images and you can even use the We Heart It image app called 'Easel' I use this a lot to edit my images and make them look better. The second way you can be creative is to sort your images into separate collections as some users may just want to follow one of your collections rather than all of them.
The third step is to be inspiring. This is where posting your own images comes in, by posting your own images and adding to your collections you can inspire others to add to theirs or even inspire them to create their own new collection on that specific topic. You have to be interesting, inspiring, creative and consistent to become a heartist, but with determination and time, it is possible.
