Ranking EVERY Nicki Minaj Album & Mixtape

Nicki Minaj, the Queen of Rap!

I recently did a tier list for Lady Gaga's albums because she released Chromatica, but once I did this I knew I had to do one for Nicki!

Nicki only has 4 albums, so I decided to include her Mixtapes as well because even though they aren't albums they are still bodies of work that Nicki has put together :)

Here is the video of this blog post in case you prefer to watch rather than read :) -

Step your P*ssy Up! - Mixtape (2009)
10. Step your Pu**y Up - Mixtape

I have been told this isn't an official Mixtape but I've always had it on my laptop in a file as one, so I'm going to include it :) This is very old school Nicki, if you love her older mixtapes then you will like this one. It has a different version of Bedrock called 'Way she Walks' which back in 2009 I thought was amazing! 'Easy' is also on there and 'NY Minute' which are both great songs!

Playtime is Over - Mixtape (2007)
9. Playtime is Over - Mixtape

I loved the song 'Playtime is Over' I used to have it on repeat a lot when I was younger, but the mixtape as a whole didn't really do it for me. Click Clack, Dilly Dally and 40 Bars are all great songs but I just feel the mixtape as a whole isn't as good as her other stuff. I do love the cover though, the black hair and 'plain' Nicki look and the fact she's in a barbie type box. I love how it connected all together later down the line.

Beam me up Scotty - Mixtape (2009)
8. Beam me Up Scotty - Mixtape

The iconic Beam me up Scotty mixtape, you ask any Nicki fan to name a mixtape and this is the first one that comes to mind for all of them. I get Crazy, Go Hard, Still I rise, this mixtape had some bangers. It also featured Lil Wayne a lot, who I feel pushed Nicki to write harder bars. This is a very good mixtape if you're into the old Nicki stuff.

Sucka Free - Mixtape (2008)
7. Sucka Free - Mixtape

This might be an unpopular opinion but I feel Sucka Free was better than Beam me up Scotty. Again Lil Wayne was a heavy influence, but I loved this mixtape. Baddest B***h was my favourite track but I also loved 'Who's ya best MC?' and Sweetest Girl, we also saw Nicki really strip back and talk about some heavy topics on 'Autobiography'. I wish she'd perform or reference these tracks more.

Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded - Album (2012)
6. Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded - Album

Nicki's 2nd Album Roman Reloaded. I love this album very much, it has a range of different topics and sounds but compared to Nicki's other work, I'm putting it at number 6. I do listen and love EDM music, I know Nicki got a lot of heat for making a 'pop' album but that doesn't put me off at all, every artist experiments with a new sound and I think this was Nicki's way of doing that. You have your classics on here like Pound the Alarm and Starships, you have your rap on there with Come on a Cone and I am your Leader but you also have your more personal tracks like Fire Burns and Young Forever - which by the way is a very unappreciated bop. Listen to the lyrics and you will see this is more than just an EDM/Rap album.

Barbie World - Mixtape (2010)
5. Barbie World - Mixtape

Again, this isn't an official Mixtape but like previous one's I've had it on my laptop for years and always thought it was. This is Nicki's best 'mixtape' of all time! in my opinion. You have all the bops on here, Shake it for Daddy, Roger that, Dang a Lang, Sweet Dreams with Miss Beyonce, Saxon with Miss Rhianna and the intro is Barbie Girl, which always reminds me of Aqua who I used to play so much when I was very little! The cover is very similar to Playtime is Over, but for me, this is where the Barbie era truly started.

Pink Friday - Album (2010)
4. Pink Friday - Album

Nicki's first album Pink Friday. people waited for this album for so long! and tbh it did not disappoint and still doesn't. Some songs do now sound very dated but overall this album still bangs today. Romans Revenge and Did it on Em are classic's and Nicki still performs those songs at (pretty much) every show to. this. day! A lot of people like Moment 4 Life, and I do too but I do feel it was overplayed at the time, but it does have a sense of nostalgia around it now. Super Bass is also on here, as a bonus track, which still blows my mind to this day how a song as big as Super Bass was a bonus track?! It's the album that set the foundation for what Nicki was to become and for that it has to be given the respect it deserves, if this album would've flopped, we probably wouldn't have a 'Nicki Minaj' today.

Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded: The Re-Up - E.P (2012)
3. Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded: The Re-Up - E.P

This isn't an album, it's only an E.P so I'm basing this list only on the new songs that came on the Re-up, not the whole PFRR album as well. So the 7 songs only. I loved this! Up in Flames was my favourite Nicki Song ever until the Pinkprint came out! I also loved the flow and bars on 'Hell Yeah' and 'The Boys' which is a classic is on there too. All in all, I absolutely love this EP and I'm putting it at number 3.

Queen - Album (2018)
2. Queen - Album

Nicki's latest work is the Queen album. This is a great piece of work but I can't put it at number 1. It's a very rap heavy album, but I think that was needed after PFRR and TPP. Chun-Li really set the scene, followed by Hard White and LLC. This was a great album and I'm so glad I got to see it live whilst she was touring.

The Pinkprint - Album (2014)

1. The Pinkprint - Album

Nicki's best album to date. This album was so real and honest that it has to have the top spot. The pain and heartache it must have taken to write this album, especially when it's about your real life. I think people are so quick to forget that a lot of these songs are about real people and real situations. We can relate to them sometimes because of our own experiences but we will never truly know because these are Nicki's experiences. This is her best piece of work and I will love this album forever.

So that's it! Nicki really is the Queen of Rap and has stood the test of time but these are where I would place her albums and mixtapes in a tiered list. If you want to listen to any of these albums then check them out on iTunes or amazon. The mixtapes you will have to listen on YouTube though because they aren't on streaming services or iTunes unfortunately.

I also have a YouTube video where I tiered all the albums, and I go into a little bit more detail there so if you're interested in that then check out the channel!

Thanks for reading :) I really appreciate it!
